Founder’s Story
Sowjanya Silks was born from a journey of going back to our roots. Coming from a weaving community, sarees and textiles have always been a part of our cultural and personal identity. Over time, as life moved in different directions, this connection became distant.
Starting Sowjanya Silks became an opportunity to reconnect — not just with sarees, but with our own heritage, traditions, and the people behind the craft. What began as an endeavor to understand ourselves gradually evolved into something more meaningful.
As we spent time with weaving clusters, interacted with artisans, and learned about the intricate processes behind each saree, we developed a deeper appreciation for the skill, patience, and legacy woven into every piece.
We realized that many weavers often lacked direct and sustainable access to customers who truly value their work. This strengthened our commitment to build a bridge — connecting skilled weavers with customers seeking authenticity, quality, and tradition.

Sowjanya Silks was founded by Nalinasree and Jayaprakash, with a shared vision of reconnecting with their roots and building a meaningful bridge between traditional weaving communities and modern customers.
Coming from a weaving community, textiles and sarees were always a part of their cultural heritage. Over time, as their professional journeys took different paths, this connection became distant. Starting Sowjanya Silks became an opportunity to rediscover their roots — to understand the craft, the communities, and the traditions that shaped their identity.
As they spent time with weaving clusters and interacted with artisans, they recognized both the richness of the craft and the challenges faced by weavers. Nalinasree brings a strong customer-centric approach, while Jayaprakash focuses on building sustainable relationships with weaving clusters.
Together, they build Sowjanya Silks with humility and a deep respect for craftsmanship — growing steadily while staying rooted in tradition.
