Wash & Care

General Care

  1. Avoid spraying perfumes / deodorants directly on your saree as they may leave non removeable stain
  2. Always 1st time dry clean. This prevents colour bleeding and fastens the colour to the fabric
  3. Normal wash will be mean gentle hand wash.
  4. Soak in shampoo or mild detergent for a few minutes (5-10 minutes) and gently handwash
  5. Drip dry in shaded area. Exposure to direct sunlight will cause the colour to fade
  6. While storing, to protect your saree from moisture, wrap them in muslin cloth
  7. To keep away from fungal growth and musty odours, use neem leaves rather than naphthalene balls, which tend to damage the fabric. While using dried neem leaves, put them in cotton pouches to avoid direct contact with the sarees.
  8. These will help you to cherish your prized possessions for long.

Silk sarees

Wash

Silk is dirt / stain averse. Hence washing silk is an easy and quick process. 2 modes are recommended to wash Silk

  1. Dry clean
  2. Home wash in Coldwater. Fill a sink with 'cold water' and a few drops of mild detergent into the water and stir it well. Gently soak the garment and pull your garment up and down for three to five minutes to remove any dirt. Silk releases dirt quickly, so the process doesn't take long, Remove within 10 minutes of soaking.

Drying

Avoid Dryer. Rinse under cold water until the detergent has been completely washed out. Never twist or wring out silk garments; doing so can damage the fabric. Use a towel to absorb any excess water from the garment. Dry the garment in Shade (ensuring that it's not in direct sun light) on a cloth line of drying stack.

Ironing

Iron only when silk is dry. Put a cloth between the fabric and the iron. Is possible, turn your silk fabric inside out and iron it over on a low setting.

Storing

Hanging on soft / blunt edges is recommended. Regular airing removing the folds recommended. Store in breathable covers (non-breathable polythene covers is not advisable) only

Cotton sarees
